A real couple on stage
Two voices, one honest story. Your audience watches a 42-year partnership at work — listening, teasing, finishing each other's thoughts. It is a rare kind of keynote.
Keynote speakers & workshop leaders from Japan
We are Mikity & Eichan, a Japanese husband-and-wife team married for 42 years. We bring Wakachiai — the Japanese art of sharing — to stages across Asia: a true story your audience will feel, and a simple practice they will use that same night.

For event organizers
Most talks are heard. Ours are felt — and then practiced. Here is what makes a session with us different from anything else on your program.
Two voices, one honest story. Your audience watches a 42-year partnership at work — listening, teasing, finishing each other's thoughts. It is a rare kind of keynote.
Every session includes a short, gentle pair practice. It works for strangers and couples alike, and anyone can opt out. Rooms that arrived quiet leave talking.
For 24+ years, Mikiko taught at Japanese universities — including Japanese society and culture to international students and graduate students from around the world. We translate a Japanese way of relating into something every culture in your room can use.
Behind the stories: a career university educator and a Ph.D. in sports science who researched behavior change, with 400+ people supported one-to-one. Heartfelt, and grounded.
The experience
A husband who ran his home like a boss. A wife worn out and thinking of leaving. Then one honest conversation changed everything. We perform it together as a dramatized reading of our real story — and we save how it ends for the room.
Wakachiai's four depths of sharing — a clear map of why everyday talk so often misses, and how to go one step deeper without judgment or logic getting in the way.
A short pair practice: share a small joy, then listen to how someone truly feels right now. People feel the difference in minutes — and take it home that night.
“We sit together every night, one on a tablet, one on the phone, but we don't talk. Now I will go home and start talking with my partner.” Participant · Germany · COLIVE Fukuoka
Keynotes & workshops
Every session is built on Wakachiai — real pair practice, not just listening — and can be tailored to your theme and time slot.
Our own 42-year story, told together on stage — partly as a dramatized reading. Guided by a Japanese image of one plum tree whose fragrance two houses share, participants try two short pair practices and discover how sharing small joys — and small frictions — turns everyday talk into deep connection, at any stage of a relationship.

Think of one person you often clash with — a partner, parent, boss or colleague. Why do the relationships that matter most so often lose their ease — and what brings it back? Pair sharing, a simple growth model, and a playful acknowledgment role-play.

We all carry both sides: the doing, leading masculine and the feeling, connecting feminine — whatever our gender. Participants can take an optional self-reflection quiz on their phones, then explore how leaning too far one way can turn partners into a “Runaway Dictator” and a “Drowning Victim.”

What leaders & participants say
“I've seen so many speakers on stage over so many years, and what I saw was incredible storytelling — a partnership working together beautifully.”
“They share something very intimate — life, relationships, even divorce — and open it up to the world. If you are looking for someone to support your relationship, look for them.”
“An interesting exposure to a topic that isn't often discussed. Learning from a Japanese couple how relationship building differs across cultures was insightful.”
“I was really touched. From now on, I'm going to practice it more, and have a deep connection with partners and friends.”
“Their workshop feels like a warm hug and a deep conversation all at once. … Sharing their own experience with their marriage makes what they teach feel personal and human. I felt safe and supported while learning from them. … Anyone looking for a more loving way to understand their heart should definitely work with them.”
Meet Mikity & Eichan
From the outside, we looked like a successful couple — relationship coaches who had supported hundreds of people. But inside our own home, we couldn't do what we taught. Eichan ran the house like a boss; Mikity thought about leaving. What finally changed us was one honest conversation — the story at the heart of every talk we give.
Today, 42 years in, we bring what we learned — together with a lifetime of teaching and science — to couples, leaders and communities around the world. Our mission: “When couples smile, the world changes.”
